2014 Doug Wright award winners announced

The 2014 Doug Wright award winners were announced in a ceremony that took place on Saturday evening, as part of the Toronto Comics Art Festival. Recognising the best in Canadian cartooning, the awards were also celebrating their 10 year. Michel Rabagliati took home the prize for best book with Paul Joins the Scouts, while Emily Carroll was awarded the Peter Pigskin award for the best in experimental or avant-garde comic for her horror web-comic, Out of Skin (Carroll also won a Cartoonist Studio prize for Out of Skin in March, and it's wonderful to see both her work and web-comic being given the appreciation they deserve). The 'Nipper' award for Canadian cartoonists worthy of wider recognition was given to Steven Gilbert for The Journal of the Main Street Secret Lodge. Congratulations to all involved.
